The Glyndebourne Festival Programme book has been published annually since 1952, with beautifully illustrated articles to complement the season’s repertoire. Originally inspired by the season-long Programme Book of the Aix-en-Provence Festival, industrialist Miki Sekers suggested to the then General Director Moran Caplat that something along similar lines would be ideal for Glyndebourne.
The 2014 Festival Programme Book will look back on 80 years of Glyndebourne and 20 years of the ‘new’ opera house while welcoming Robin Ticciati as Glyndebourne’s new Music Director. Elsewhere in the book our dramaturg Cori Ellison interviews directors Frederic Wake-Walker and Tom Cairns about their new productions for Festival 2014; and our season overview article on the theme of disguise is by Valerie Traub and Brenda Marshall. David Shengold, Robert Vilain and Michael Reynolds write about Der Rosenkavalier; Marina Frolova-Walker and Stephen Banks on Eugene Onegin; Sarah Wright and Nicolas Till on Don Giovanni; Julian Rushton and Margaret Reynolds on La finta giardiniera; Julie Kavanagh and Francesco Izzo on La traviata; and Anthony Roth Costanzo on Rinaldo.
